Ms Hirut Von Lany MD FRCSEd

Ms von Lany sees patients with a broad range of eye conditions. She specialises in the treatment of medical and surgical retinal conditions as well as general ophthalmology and eye trauma repair. 

Ms von Lany’s areas of expertise are:

• Cataract surgery

• Surgical retinal conditions: epiretinal membrane peelmacular hole repairretinal detachment repair and complications of advanced diabetic retinopathy.
• Treatment of medical retinal conditions: macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vein occlusions.
• General ophthalmology and eye trauma repair.

She is particularly interested in treating medical retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vascular problems.

About Ms von Lany

In addition to her clinical and surgical responsibilities at the West of England Eye Unit (WEEU) and Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, Ms von Lany has secured membership of the World Association of Eye Hospitals. 

She has a keen interest in teaching and training, and organises annual teaching/training seminars for ophthalmologists in the South West – including presentations by international experts in various aspects of ophthalmology.

Ms von Lany has made regular visits to the St John Eye Hospital, Jerusalem; a charitable foundation of the Order of St John providing specialist training to ophthalmic surgeons. Through this work she is helping set up a collaborative research project between the St John Eye Hospital, the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and the University of Exeter Medical School into improved methods of screening and treating diabetic eye conditions.
