He is a product of the South West himself, having trained extensively at the region’s top eye hospitals. As a result, he has developed an in depth understanding of the patient specific vision needs of this part of the country.

Mr Cowdray is a respected glaucoma and cataract surgeon who has performed thousands of successful procedures. He is dedicated to ensuring his patients feel fully informed and confident when making decisions about their eye care. This includes clear guidance on premium lens and focus options for cataract surgery, along with honest, tailored advice on whether these choices are suitable for their individual vision needs.

Positions held:

Mr Cowdray holds a full time NHS consultant post at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. His dedicated practice integrates the latest evidence based medical and surgical techniques with a strong focus on safety and long-term outcomes.

He also serves as College Tutor in Ophthalmology, playing the leading role in the training and development of future eye surgeons at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and the surrounding region. He is committed to advancing ophthalmic education and actively supports resident NHS ophthalmic surgeons throughout their surgical training and career development. He is passionate about surgical education and plays an active role in national recruitment and mentoring within the NHS ophthalmic training programme.
