Optometrists attend Winslade Manor for Educational Event

Local optometrists attended Winslade Manor on Tuesday June 17th for another of our educational events designed to enhance their clinical knowledge and skills.

The event featured two insightful presentations:

Dr. Kenneth C. Fan, a Retina Consultant from Texas, joined via Teams to deliver a talk on “Managing Inherited Retinal Diseases in Practice.” This was followed by Miss Hirut von Lany, Consultant Ophthalmologist at Exeter Eye, who discussed the “Differential Diagnosis of Retinal Conditions”.

Mr. Peter Simcock, Consultant Ophthalmologist at Exeter Eye, delivered a talk on “Giant cell arteritis and the eye – how to stop people going completely blind!” This vital topic underscored the importance of early diagnosis and intervention in preventing severe vision loss.

The educational evening, kindly sponsored by medical company AbbVie, followed its usual format, concluding with a meal for all attendees.

Both talks were awarded one CPD (Continuing Professional Development) point by the General Optical Council, contributing to the ongoing professional development of the region’s optometrists.
