Specialist Lens Implant

At Exeter Eye our ophthalmic surgeons are pleased to use Specialist lens implants – the only presbyopia-correcting extended range of vision intraocular lens (IOL).

Home » Eye Treatments » Specialist Lens Implant

It delivers a continuous full range of high quality vision with reduced incidence of halos and glare, minimising the need for glasses after cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange (RLE).

Our range of specialist lenses (incl. EDOF Puresee & Panoptix lenses) are an emerging class of Intraocular (IOL) known as ’the extended-depth-of-focus lens’. They correctsall types of vision problems at once and can be inserted in just a simple operation. They work at any distance and in any light condition, acting more like a camera zoom than other multi-focal lenses which have three distinct points of focus.

Unlike traditional multifocal lenses there is no reduction in contrast sensitivity with our specialist lenses, and they have a special defraction grating, making it similar to a traditional lens implant but with the added benefit of a reading prescription.

Treating presbyopia (age-related long-sightedness), the IOL is implanted into the eye during a normal cataract operation. Recovery time is minimal, with most patients able to return to their usual routine just 24 hours after surgery.
